In contrast to analogue VHF transmission, DAB (Digital Audio Broadcasting) is a new method for the digital transmission of radio signals via a network of terrestrial radio transmitters. It offers the listener more choices and information in clear sound quality without any noise.
With DAB digital stations, you no longer have to memorize a frequency.
What distinguishes DAB + from DAB DAB + is a further development of the DAB standard, so it takes over all functions of DAB, but offers additional advantages.
The technical difference lies in the audio coding used, ie the two standards use different methods for processing the data before and after transmission.
While DAB works with MPEG-1 Layer-2, DAB + MPEG-4 uses HE-AAC v2, currently the most efficient audio compression in the world.

Note: The vehicle's DAB antenna can also be used for DAB +. We cannot always promise the best reception with the universal DAB antenna. Cars often have acoustic panes or insulated panes, so it is best to replace the antenna amplifier with FM and DAB amplifiers. There is no automatic station search, this must be started manually via the MMI. A new manual station search is only necessary for regional ensembles if the vehicle location changes and the regional ensembles change. With national ensembles no new station search is necessary.
